Mint's Walkthrough

Things to Know: The left side is a quick overview: what you're supposed to look out for, treasures you may find in the area, what monsters to expect, any bosses you have to fight, and any important information you have to know. Plus pictures.

The right side will go into more detail; where exactly to find the treasures, directions (if necessary), tips, and all in all more detailed info.

The walkthrough will be sectioned into chapters based on the save game title. Got that? Good. Let's get going!

Chapter 1: World Domination, Baby!

At the entrance to the Underground, you'll meet up with Rue. In the beginning of the conversation you'll have two ways to respond to something. Either way it doesn't affect anything. After your little chat, enter the dungeoun. This place is a bit tricky as certain paths go back to where you came from. By the way, to defeat the King Ant, you have to use your fire magic or water magic. Or you can use many, many physical attacks to take it down. I suggest you build up your MP to about 110 while you're in here so you can get an extra special treasure later on in the game. You can also build up your HP since Gudon's can tail slap you successively.

Anyways, here's how to get through this place: From the entrance, head straight up till you reach a really tall wall you can't jump over. Head left and you'll reach a dead end room with Rue lost. He clues you in about a waterfall, so check that out. Go out and turn at the first right. You'll enter the first of several waterfalls. Walk on through, defeat or ignore the Pollywog, and enter the next area.

For this place, go up one fence and turn on the first right. You'll end up at another waterfall area. Go on through, and you'll get to the last areas of this labyrinth.

Go up and turn on the first right and get the Night Stone. Go back out, head up, and turn on the first right again. Get yourself a Moon Stone. Head out of there and go up again but turn on the first left to get to another waterfall. This leads to a room with a hole. Jump in!

Welcome to the obstacle course! Each area is the same: get past Gudon's on crates over boiling lava, defeat King Ant, get platform, and repeat. To get past the Gudon's, stay out of reach of its flame and use one of your long range magics like Rapid Fire or your Droplets magic. The King Ant, you can dodge it but eventually, you'll have to defeat one to recover your MP. When it attacks, just run around it in an arc. It will shoot out three flames. After this, attack it and repeat the process until it's dead. Get the platforms: purple, blue, green, and black. The last area (you'll come to a T intersection), go up and get the red platform. Go right, use your flame magic on the ice block to get the last platform; gold. When you flame the block, get as close to it as possible and just keep your finger down till it breaks.

Side Quest: Rare Wine & Super Magic Type
Okay, this is where the 110+ MP comes in. If you keep going right, you'll encounter two more ice blocks. Past these two ice blocks is the rare wine and more magic for Mint. If you run out of MP, visit the King Ant and bring your MP back up. Once you get your hands on the wine - DON'T SELL IT! Instead, give it to Hobb's and he'll give you a discount at his store - his 30000G price reduces to 5000G! But if you really want to - go ahead and sell the wine for 500G. You'll also get the Super Magic Type which gives you some more magic attacks.

To go back to entrance without going through the obstacle course, go back to the T intersection and jump south. Keep jumping south till you get to the entrance. There, the platforms will be lined up in a semi-circle. To use them, jump on the right-most platform and continue down the line till you get to the left-most platform. If you mess up, you have to start over. If you cleared it, the platforms will take you up to another hole and the next area.

You're now in a long hallway. On the left is another tall wall. To the right is Rue and a boulder. Hmmm, does that tell you something? After you talk to Rue, the boulder will start to roll. Run down asap! Rocks will fall directly in front of you so be ready to dodge side to side before you can hide in the area you landed in on the left. If you die - no worries, use one of your Bronze Life Coins. The boulder will break the unpassable wall and you can now move on. But before you do, check up on Rue, and pilfer a Bronze Coin. Replenish your HP by going further up and to the sparkly light.

This pool and platform area can be a bit aggravating. The goal: wait and jump on the flashing platform. If you fall, you'll lose HP and start over from the beginning. You have to jump on seven platforms, the seventh and last one being the white platform, before you can get to the next region.

If you didn't notice it before, there's a treasure chest exactly on the other side. When you jump on one of the outer ring platform, wait for it to reach the treasure chest and jump to it to get the Legendary Sword. You can return and get this later if you want. It'll still be here.

On the white platform, it'll elevate you downwards past a staircase and to a hall full of columns. Jump on these columns and you'll reach a 2x2 area of square platforms. Enter the guardian: Skull Beast!

Boss Fight: Skull Beast
Avoid the Skull Beast's flame attacks and jumps wherever you are standing. Hit it with long range magic when it's flashing - usually right after it stops jumping around. I prefer using the Rapid Fire as it's the farthest reaching but you can use other magic. If you run out of MP, just dodge around and jump kick it when it's flashing. Repeat until it's down.

Go further down the hall and you'll teleport to the atelier. Go in and get all the treasures. Look out for sparkly Life Coins and regenerate your HP before you go back out. Once you leave the atelier, you can't go back so get everything now! Here's where to find everything:
Pink - 2 Bronze Coins, Tiara
Yellow - Recover HP, Gold Coin, Broze Coin
Green - Cube, Bronze Coin

Boss Fight: Belle
As you're about to go to the hall, Duke and Belle show up and you start your battle with Belle. Belle's attacks include throwing two diamonds, creating an explosion, and calling up a shield ring which she throws at you after awhile. Avoid her when she has her shield up and attack after her other two attacks. The two attacks you should focus on using are your jump kick and your Cutter magic.

After your fight, it looks like Belle stole the Tiara from you and they make their escape. Chase after them!

As you get back to the 2x2 or square platforms, another Skull Beast appears! Don't bother defeating it (you can't). Just jump kick it once and you'll be able to head toward the platform. As you are about to go up past the stairs, the Skull Beast pursues and you end up on the stairs. Run up as fast as you can and watch out for the falling spiked balls. Your best bet is to run near the center of the stairs. Eventually you'll reach the top and get cornered. After the Skull Beast's demise, you'll head on out of there!

Go back to Klaus and share your findings. He'll mention going to "her" - Chapter 3: Fancy Mel. But first, upgrade your equipment at Tonio's and if you didn't get it already, there's a Bronze Coin at the mesh door next to the Hotel.
