Windfall Island: Pictography

This optional section of the walkthrough will guide Link through optional pieces of Windfall Island, including getting used to the Tingle Tuner and become the apprentice to a world-renowned pictographer.

Turn on your Game Boy Advance, connect it to the GameCube, then equip and use the Tingle Tuner. You'll then be treated to a long load time. Tingle will then greet you on the GBA and say it's time to test your compatibility...um, yeah, you may be tempted to flip that 'Off' switch on the GBA, but resist the temptation.
A marker symbolizes the position of the cursor on the GBA. Press 'A' on the GBA to show Link the marker's position. Use 'R' on the GBA to snap the marker to Link's position. Tingle also sells things to you via the tuner. The Seagull Pen is free and allows Tingle to mark a location and direct Link to it. The Tingle Bomb costs 10 Rupees and allows Tingle to blow things up. The explosion goes off at the position of the marker. The Tingle Balloon costs 30 Rupees and lets Link walk in the air for five seconds. The Tingle Shield costs 40 Rupees and prevents damage to Link for five seconds.
The Tingle Watch is free and tells Link how long his adventure has lasted, as well as what time it is in the game. The Red Guide Book gives Link various tips, tricks, and instructions, and it's free. The Red Ting costs 20 Rupees and refills Link's health. Now, Tingle wants you to find the postbox. Move the marker on the GBA over to the postbox next to the docks. Press 'A' when the exclamation point appears on the GBA.
Now Tingle tells you to go to the bench closest to the postbox. Not a problem--it's on the path leading to Zunari's stall, and is hard to miss. Stand on the bench. Moving the marker to it does nothing; you actually have to stand on the bench.
The next bench Tingle tells you to go to apparently has a seaside view. Sitting on this bench is Sam, a member of some kind of society that wants to spread joy. Sounds a little too goody-goody to me...
Carefully step onto the bench--don't fall off. Also, try not to pay too much attention to Sam as he stares creepily at you.
If you take the wooden path behind Zunari's stall down, you'll find Missy, the mother of Dampa the sailor. She's an old hag that is also one of the few citizens not connected to a sidequest. Leave her be.
Follow the path up from Sam's bench to the Windfall plaza, an area you haven't been to yet, unless you've veered off from my instructions. And if you have, I would sleep with one eye open tonight...In any case, a lady in an orange dress named Linda stands here, and is one of the few hawt girls in the game, if you're into cartoon characters. She is actually friends with Sue-Belle, the girl on Outset Island that I also mentioned as being hawt. Linda talks about her clothes all the time, which makes her a prep.
Also roaming the plaza are the Killer Bees, a gang of four kids that *gasp* skip school. Those vandals! I NEVER SKIPPED SCHOOL IN MY DAY!! Um, yeah...these toddlers need to be straightened out, but you'll have to worry about that later. Their leader is Ivan, the one with the cap. Jan is the one with the blue hair. Jin is the spiky-headed boy, and Jun-Roberto is the pig-nosed looking kid. I'd hate to meet HIS parents...ugh!
In any case, the bench that Tingle wants you to find next is in the plaza, next to the door with the camera sign above it. Stand on it to complete Tingle's bench-finding quest.
Now Tingle wants you to find Rupees he hid in the plaza. To do so, move the marker around the plaza until an exclamation point appears on the GBA. It should be between Linda and a tree. Press 'A' to examine this spot.
Tingle's final test is that he wants you to become a terrorist and bomb the jail where he was held for so long. Run over to the jail door, position the marker right at it, and make sure the Tingle Bomb is equipped on the tuner. Then, use 'B' to bomb the door. Congratulations, you've just left Windfall without any means to punish its criminals. Good job. Your reward? A jar will appear in the spot you bombed, and it contains a Red Rupee. Yeah, that was a waste of time.
Now, go back to the plaza and go through the door with the camera above it.
Welcome to Lenzo's pictography shop--not that he's selling anything right now. Lenzo is a famous pictographer that's seen many adventures in his day. He admires your Picto Box, but I wouldn't give it to him--he looks like one of those terrorist from Iraq, and could potentially turn it into a remote-activated suicide bomb.
Now head upstairs to Lenzo's pictograph gallery. As Link admires the photos, Lenzo sneaks up behind him in an attempt to kidnap him and sell him for ransom money to fund the war in Iraq. Thankfully, Link realizes he's there before it's too late. Anyway, it's worth examining all the pictographs. You'll learn some valuable information about the following subjects: ChuChus, the Private Oasis, Tingle Island, Outset Island, the Ghost Ship, the Triangle Islands, and the Forsaken Fortress. Of particular interest is the fact that Link's grandma and Lenzo once had a fling. *shivers in disgust*
You may also notice a couple of treasure chests behind a mesh wall. You can't get to them yet, so just forget about it for now. Now head back downstairs. Lenzo will follow you down. Talk to him once he gets behind the counter, and he will recruit you as his apprentice. Yay, you get to bomb the Land of the Free now! Oh, his pictography assistant. In any case, you must pass three of his tests to prove yourself worthy of the job.
Your first test is to catch a man mailing a love letter to a woman who would rather rip out her tongue and swallow a flaming sword than date him. A good position to take this picture from is behind Candy the sailor, at the end of the docks.
Wait for Garrickson, the man in red overalls, to walk to the postbox. This will probably take a while, so prepare to take a nap. When he does appear, make sure you get a picture of him when he's reaching towards the postbox, letter in hand. Make sure you aren't too close to him, or he'll just stand in place and wait for you to leave. Also, make sure you get a full-body shot of Garrickson and the postbox.
Take the pictograph back to Lenzo. To show it to him, 'L'-target him and press the button that the Picto Box is equipped to. Then, select the appropriate picture. If it isn't satisfactory, try taking the picture again from a different angle. If it does, Lenzo will send you out on your next test.
Your next test is to find the feeblest man on Windfall, who jumps at the slightest surprise. You've already met him--it's Gossack, who hangs out at the pub. Head over there. You have to capture a full-body picture of him quivering.
To accomplish this, roll into a wall near Gossack, or knock the dishes off the table. When he's quivering, quickly get to a distance where you can get a full-body pictograph of him. However, if you're too slow, he'll get over the scare, and you'll have to startle him again. Once you get the pictograph, laugh at his pussy ways before leaving.
Head back to Lenzo and show him the pictograph. If it's satisfactory, you can go and complete your final task.
Your final task is to take a picture of two people on the island who love each other, but are both too shy to say anything, locking gazes. These two people are Linda, the woman in the orange dress in the plaza, and Anton, the guy who enjoys taking walks around Windfall. Stand on the stoop next to Linda to get in position.
After a long time, Anton will stroll onto the plaza. When he passes Linda, the two of them will look deep into each other's eyes. Get a full-body shot of both of them while they match gazes. This lasts only a brief moment, so you have to be quick about it.
Give the pictograph to Lenzo, who seems to enjoy meddling in other people's lives. He'll reward your efforts with a Joy Pendant. While that may seem like a rip, doing this sidequest will benefit you later. Now, it's time to take care of those pesky Killer Bees brats.
