The first major battle for Chris takes place about midway in chapter 1, where she just met with the Grassland leaders over a peace treaty that ends badly. So now the objective is to stay alive while waiting for the escape route to show up, allowing you exit from the major battle.
The first thing you should do is to keep away from the Lizard Clan and move one or two units on your area while having one be on guard in the south. The next turn Lucia and two units will show up, while also opening up a path up leading north to the exit. Kill the Karaya unit in the way and after a turn or two, you should reach the growing area and retreat.
