Thomas Chapter 2
The chapter opens in Budehuc again, and there's nothing to do to trigger a plot turn here. So, head to Iksay Village. However, if you haven't recruited Augustine yet, you should recruit him now to make fights later on a lot easier.
When you enter, you'll see a Zexen Council member and several knights. The council member will ask that you take him to Budehuc, so head back there.
When you get back, Sebastian will run toward you and tell you that a Zexen council member is on the way...the same on that you brought here. The Council member, who believes these businesses are illegal, demands that they all be shut down before he returns. As the council member leaves, you'll notice Hugo is at the castle with Sgt. Joe, Lilly, Samus, and Reed. Head upstairs and take a nap.
Location Budehuc Castle (next morning)

The next day, approach the gate, and you'll find that the council member has returned, and has set the castle under siege, refusing anybody permission to enter or leave. Apparently, Hugo is to be arrested for fleeing from Vinay del Zexay. Yet for some reason, the Zexen marshal claims he doesn't recognize Hugo, and you refuse to turn him over. Head back to the courtyard for a meeting with the others, but the group seems to be out of ideas. Head back to the town, and outside the Inn, you'll see two more guests at the castle who are forced to stay: Caesar and Apple. They offer to help you with the current problem. Head back to the courtyard again. Caesar says that the council member is just using Hugo as an excuse to put the castle under siege, and if Hugo escapes, then the Zexens will leave. However, you'll need to distract them long enough. After the meeting, go to the gate for a scene with Cecile, then head to the hall near the infirmiry to a another scene, this time with Muto, Martha, and Piccolo. Finally, stop at the library. Eike and Sebastian seem to be planning something, but Sebastian suggests that you get some rest. The next morning, save, then go to the courtyard, and order the attack.
Strategic Battle: Budehuc Castle Victory Conditions: Stay alive for 1 turn and get Hugo and Lilly out of the castle Defeat Conditions: Hugo or Lilly Unit is defeated

It's not likely you'll be nearly as strong as the Zexens, unless you have Augustine with you. Fortunately, you only need to stay alive for a turn, so DO NOT attack; it's too risky and not worth the effort. After a turn, Hugo and Lilly Units will appear. Just move them to the escape route that opens up, and you'll win.
It seems that the fighting is over, but leave Budehuc, re-enter, and go to the courtyard to see Percival and Leo. They'll tell Thomas that he is being replaced and that tomorrow he is going to be taken back to Vinay del Zexay. At night, go to the library and talk with Eike. Next, speak with Sebastian on the stairs, and third, go to the infirmary and talk with Muto, who is still working on the wall. Finally, head back upstairs to see Cecile in front of your room. The dialogue between them reveals a bit of Thomas' past. Then, Thomas goes back to bed.
Location Budehuc Castle (next morning)

As Percival and Leo arrive to take Thomas back to Vinay del Zexay, Cecile steps in and refuses to let them take Thomas. Pick the first dialogue option to move the story along. Soon, the rest of the castle members will join the resistance, threatening to fight the two knights. Percival and Leo leave to call the knights to battle. You'll now get the option of renaming Budehuc Castle (but I will still refer to it as Budehuc). Pick the first option at the dialogue to advance the story. Thomas will have one final talk with the group. Go up to the front entrance and talk with Juan. Pick the second option and tell him to wait. Put a party together (for later battles); the best bet is Thomas, Cecile, Juan, Piccolo, Augustine, and Mel. Talk to Muto, then to Juan, and tell him you're ready to fight.
Strategic Battle: Budehuc Castle #2 Victory Conditions: Stay alive for 4-5 turns Defeat Conditions: Zexens reach the castle

Use the same tactics as before: Don't be too aggressive, and attack only when they come towards you. Again, if you have Augustine with you, he'll prove to be a HUGE help. Use your strongest unit to meet the Zexens head on, and move your other units so they can cover each other. Your best chance is a safe retreat; you can't win because Percival and Leo's health will only go down to 1/2. After roughly 4-6 turns, you'll retreat, and if you got a Safe Retreat, you'll get a rune.
Location Budehuc Castle (Zexen battle)
|
Your group will fall back into the mansion, with the Zexens chasing after you. At the courtyard, you'll battle four Zexen knights, which aren't too hard. Use Best Effort, and use everyone else to just attack. Heal up after the battle. Once you're inside, you'll battle another group of Zexen knights, except this one CANNOT be won, no matter what level you are. Just defend every round, and the fight will be ended and you'll be mysteriously saved by some Grade A guerilla tactics. The next and final battle is against more Zexen knights, which IS beatable, this time. Again, use Best Effort, use magic with Piccolo, and have everyone else attack, and make sure you keep healing. After you win, Martha enters the castle and breaks up the fight. She explains why it is illegal for Zexen to now attack Budehuc, and the Zexens retreat. An extended cutscene will play out, and the chapter will end.
