Transformations


Many different worlds that lie ahead for Wonder Boy will require him to change into different forms at will.  After you defeat each boss dragon, they will yield to you the ability to change into a new form.  Each new form will allow Wonder Boy to enter new areas and find new items to aid his quest.

Transformation Bonus Points

Attack Power: The higher the value, the larger will be the extent of damage that can be inflicted.  Different swords have different values that add to the points each transformation comes with.

Defense Power: The higher the value, the better the protection from an attack.  Different shields and armor have different values that add to the points each transformation comes with.

Charm Points: Value depends on accumulated points for different appearances, types of armor, and the number of Charm Stones.  If this value is low, effective equipment cannot be purchased in the shop.  Try entering shops with a transformation that automatically has higher charm points.





HU-MAN

Attack Power: +100   Defense Power: +55   Charm Points: +56

Wonder Boy's true form.  He will begin his adventure in this form, but once the MEKA dragon is defeated, a curse will turn him into Lizard-Man and thus begins his quest to retrieve his true form.  The object of the game is to obtain the Salamder Cross so Wonder Boy may change back into this form.





LIZARD-MAN

Attack Power: +0   Defense Power: +0   Charm Points: +0

Lizard-Man is the first form that Wonder Boy is thrust into as the MEKA dragon meets its doom.  New weapons will help to boost the fire he breaths at his enemies.  Armor and shields also boost defense power even though they are not seen on his person.





MOUSE-MAN

Attack Power: +60   Defense Power: +20   Charm Points: +40

The second form Wonder Boy takes on will let him enter all of the small places he could not enter before.  Mouse-Man can also walk on walls and ceilings made of "Mouse-Block."





PIRANHA-MAN

Attack Power: +50   Defense Power: +40   Charm Points: +10

Piranha-Man can swim freely, even with all his armor and weapons equiped.  There are some areas only he can enter because of this ability.





LION-MAN

Attack Power: +90   Defense Power: +50   Charm Points: +50

Lion-Man gives Wonder Boy a formidable sword swing that extends from head to toe. He is very close to the Human form of Wonderboy in Attack and Defense power.  Good for defeating tough enemies in a short amount of time.  He also has the highest amount of charm points, so he should be used to buy items whenever possible.





HAWK-MAN

Attack Power: +30   Defense Power: +10   Charm Points: +20

Wonder Boy's final form lets him soar through the air to many hidden areas.  Although this form may be the most useful in the game, beware of water and tougher battles.  Water causes damage because Hawk-Man cannot swim and he has low defense and attack power, especially for the last part of the adventure.
