The Evil Campaign: A Devilish Plan by BahamutXero
Campaign description:
Erathian history has never recorded the fall of Steadwick to her enemies. Today, we start a glorious campaign to forever change this fact. No longer will we allow Erathia to hamper our religious and economic ways of life. We have the element of surprise. We’ll soon have victory as well!
Scenario description:
To win, you must find and kill the Gold Dragon Queen. Although your Heroes are limited to level 12 in this scenario, your eight strongest Heroes will be available to you in the final scenario if you wish to use them.
Situation:
You are in charge of taking out the Elves of AvLee, Erathia’s allies. The Gold Dragon Queen is a main ally of the Elves. Her death will weaken them greatly, allowing you to easily defeat them.
Parameters:
Difficulty: Easy
Allies: Tan
Enemies: Red
Bonus choices:
Scroll of Slayer
Armor of Wonder
100 Imps
Starting resources
30 wood, 15 mercury, 30 ore, 15 sulfur, 15 crystal, 15 gems, 30000 gold.
Town restraints:
No town in this scenario can build shipyards; the scenario takes place completely on land anyway. All the Ramparts and Castle towns in this scenario can only have only one or two creature dwellings built, except the northern most Rampart, which can build everything.
Guide:
Okay, first off it’s important to remember that your eight strongest Heroes in this scenario can follow you onwards to the final scenario. They can only reach level 12 here, but you can take them to mercenary camps, schools of magic, magic shrines etc. to improve their skills as much as you can before you complete the scenario. If you do so, you very powerful Heroes that can kick anybody’s butt at the end of the first scenario, and that means that the final scenario, if you choose your Heroes from this scenario, will be somewhat easier.
You start with a random Inferno Hero. If you don’t like the Hero you got, restart until you do. I recommend getting eight heroes as fast as you can to start leveling them up. Unless you just want to wait and see if you can get a better mix of Heroes next scenario to take to the final scenario. I managed to level up three Heroes to level 12 and one to level 10 by killing everything possible. You can get a couple more to level 4 by visiting all the learning stones. My favorite Inferno picks include: Calh, Octavia, Ayden, and Zydar. Feel free to take any Heroes you want, I just like sticking with Inferno Heroes because their the only type of army to can build in this scenario. Begin building your creature generators as soon a possible. Just start using one Hero as your main one; killing everything you can then give the army to the next when that Hero reaches level 12. Regardless, you should have all your heroes visit experience and skill building locations.
Your starting castle has unguarded sulfur and crystal mines right outside it, so take them right away. Most of the enemies around your castle are pretty weak and you should be able to take most of them out within the first week. Make sure to visit all the Listening Stone nearby for a quick level up.
You need to get a strong army as soon as you can because Red has four towns to the northwest. Despite having so many towns, their towns are not that heavily guarded because they can’t build high-level creature generators like you can. While waiting to build your army up, the enemy near the red tent and visit it for its password, remember to take the campfire too. This is the first step in getting underground to kill the Gold Dragon Queen. Go west and visit the hut of the magi, this reveals the red checkpoint you can go to now that you have the password in the lower left corner and the entrance to the underground to the north. There is a treasure chest here too. Continue left and claim the ore pit and other mines in the area.
When you have a about a week worth of troops, go southwest of your first castle to find a neutral Rampart town guarded by an enemy on the outside and dwarves and elves on the inside. As with all the other towns in this scenario, just use them as money towns. They can’t really be used as anything else except for stockpiling low-level creatures.
When you are confident enough in you army attack the enemies guarding a magic shrine, an artifact, a star axis and a couple of resource piles. Continue west towards the red checkpoint claiming resources, mines, and treasure chests, and visiting magic shrines, learning stones, creature dwellings, skill enhancer locations, etc. as you go along. As I mentioned before Red is pretty weak despite having so many towns. You should be able to take the Castle near the border gate without any problem. Then visit the green tent beyond the red checkpoint. You could go straight underground and probably kill the gold dragon now, but you probably want to kill everything to level up your Heroes.
Northwest of the Castle town is another Castle town. Same deal here, Red probably only has a small army of low-level creatures and anything else it can scrap together. Continue northwest and you will find a Rampart town. Now I suggest clearing out everything around these towns, and anywhere else you can go the northwest. Remember how everything has been pretty easy up to this point? Now it’s time for the hard part. Now don’t go pissing your pants, it’s really not that hard. Hopefully your beginning Inferno town has built everything it can. Red’s final Rampart town in the northwest corner of the map actually has an army guarding it. About a dozen devils and the rest of your troops should be enough to take it out. Just sit tight until you have a big enough army to take it out, Red is probably too busy trying to defend it’s last town to launch an effective offensive against you. When you feel confident enough, lay siege to Red’s final Rampart town to the northwest. Victory here will wipe them out for good.
Now it’s time for the final stage of the scenario. First make you have totally cleared out the surface map. Now take your weakest hero, and give him or her all the army you have. If you didn’t have many casualties from defeating Red, you should be all right. Like I said before, about as dozen devils, plus whatever other army you got should be enough. Venture down underground and you’ll come to a fork leading into three directions. The left and right paths lead to green dragons guarding a bunch of treasure. Take these out before heading down the middle path. The middle path has about 10 gold and green (that’s ten total, not ten of each) guarding their queen. None of these battles should be too tough if you have a big enough army, just remember that dragons have magic resistance, green to up to level three spells and gold to level four. After you defeat them, the path to the Gold Dragon Queen is open. Despite her title, the battle is against just a single gold dragon and shouldn’t be a problem considering the number of dragons you killed to get to her.
