Walkthrough

I have two types of walkthroughs.  The Short walkthrough is a brief synopsis on the dungeon.  The Long Walkthrough goes through each dungeon floor by floor.  There is no actual walkthrough for going through the village and getting from each dungeon to the next.  However, I will integrate them in between steps of the long walkthrough.

If this is your first visit to Chocobo's Dungeon 2, then you might want
to find your bearings into the game.  I'm not going to delve too much
into the game schematics.  But either way, it shouldn't matter much.

You and Mog stand before a suspicious looking doorway.  It's your first
dungeon of the game, and it will pretty much be your tutorial.  So the
first task is to name Mog and Chocobo.  I'm sticking with Mog and
Chocobo.

Entry into this dungeon is automatic and foolhardy, as this dungeon is
a mysterious dungeon; there are no stairs leading back up.  You'll be
given control, so you can wander about this floor.

If you want the most out of this game - explore every floor and obtain
as many items as you can, gaining levels as much as you can.  So be sure
to completely explore the levels.  Then, you can advance.

On the 2F, a goblin bullies a guz and kills it, leveling into a lv2

Here, you'll appear to be trapped.  But Mog informs you that you can
indeed sneak through the diagonal.

At the bottom, Mog will flip a switch and it will fling chocobo back
out to the exit and into the caring hands of a caring young girl named
Shiroma.  Mog is still stuck in the dungeon though, so that'll be your
next mission - to rescue Mog.

You'll be introduced and get to name her (Shiroma.)  Afterwards, she'll
head on out to leave you alone, telling you about a bad tonic on the
shelf.  (It's a Nitro Tonic.)  Anyhow, exit the house and head up
the stairway to the dungeon.

You are on your own for now, so just remember that.

You'll meet up with Chubby Chocobo and Shiroma.  But they go ahead
unaware of your presence.  So you don't get a partner just yet.

Here, Shiroma joins up with you and tells you about the stoves.  But
apparently, Chocobo already knew that.

Here, the terrain becomes that of a dark dungeon.  New enemies will
start to appear, including the very dangerous skeletal monster.

Floor ten holds your first boss of the game, and he's really not that
tough if you are prepared.  Flame Claws are particularly helpful as
skullhammer is weak to fire.  It's a good idea to unload your repetoire
of Fire Books.  When the boss splits up into four sections - the heart
is vulnerable part.  The other pieces will defend the heart, and after a
while, the boss will recombine.  If you defeat any one part of the boss
before the recombination, the boss will never fuse together again.  That
could or may not be a good idea.  But either way, Skullhammer has 420 HP,
which is the HP count that the heart shares.  However, the other parts of
the boss usually drop good iteams.

After defeating the skullhammer, proceed down the stairs to the final
floor.

A huge scene occurs.  After which, you'll be ejected to a beach, with
Mog, as the dungeon sinks into the sea.

From the beach, exit and head east to the village on the world map.

As you enter, some angry villagers come to greet Shiroma.  There more
to the story of Shiroma than her sweet white robes indicate.  After
that, you'll have control of Chocobo.

Anyhow, onward with the game.  Go talk to Shiroma until he has nothing
new to say.  Then go to Mrs. Bomb's house.  Talk to Mog to learn your
new mission.  Then pay Chubby Chocobo a visit.  He will then go and
unlock the gate to Cid's Tower.  Finally, leave via the west exit of the
village and head north and west to the tower.

Here you witness Cid destroy a monster, then almost you.  But he sees
the kindness in you and joins up with you.  Name him, then go onward.

Here you encounter a floor with switches that direct a center piece
which controls flow to and from two of the four corners of this floor.
Quite frankly, just find the elevator and beat it out of here.

Here we encounter more of a dungeon-ish type of terrain, plus many
new enemies.  But also, 10F is a bridge to the other spire of this
tower.  On the bridge section, Cid will pause for a minute.  Bahamut
will appear to divulge some information.  There is a chest here if you
still have room in your inventory, plus there's a 3000G (worthless)
tonic you can buy, but I don't recommend it.

Here you begin to meet some of the worst enemies of the tower.  The
Robo-Imps.  They are very powerful, but susceptible to Thunder

14F is not really a floor - but rather the floor where Cid will arm
himself with the CidTank, and if you have room in your inventory, you
can grab a Hi-Potion from the chest.  Name the CidTank, then proceed
to a boss fight.

Here's your next boss fight, and it's quite a challenge.  All the imps
are weak to thunder, so unload anything you have that is thunder. 
Secondly, the main robo imp has a long range ball-chain shot.  Thirdly,
the imps will set off bombs that have a timer.  When the timer reaches
near zero, hit them back at the robos.  So you can resort to a sorta-
strategic based battle if you need to.  Blitz Claws would be great here
if you have them.  When you beat the boss, talk to Cid.  Answer Yes to
return to the village. 

Back at the village, a scene occurs with the CidMarine diving in the
ocean to the dungeon, which isn't actually underwater.  Before you
delve into the sea dungeon, return to the village to resume some of
the side-quests.

Here you face off Ultros, the boss of this dungeon.  It's best to launch
a magic assault while standing in the middle, out of reach of physical
contact of Ultros.  Ultros and his hands are vulnerable to drain, so keep
that in mind if you need some hp to drain (lv 7+ drain.)  It'll take a
long time, so endure and you will prevail.

Down here, talk to Shiroma and enter the mysterious building.  It takes
some fancying around, so keep chasing Shiroma around and Imps will come
kidnap Shiroma.  Attemp to kick the doors open repeatedly to drift the
scene to within the building.  Here you're introduced to Glass Goth. 
Anyhow, that's it.

Meanwhile, Bahamut paid Cid a visit and pointed him (Chocobo and Co) in
the right direction - to Snow Mountain - your next dungeon.

Now that you're at the village, take care of business there again, then
head out to the world map, and to the Forest.

10F has two parts; two spires of the tower.  The bridge inbetween you'll
go through and meet Bahamut again.  Continue through, getting a chest on

This is a good floor to find a morph trap, morph into a thief, and steal
uncountable numbers of Drain Books, Spell Books, and Demon Collars from
the Mini Druids.

Next up is another movie cinema, featuring the CidWind taking off.  With
a little help from Bahamut, Chubby chocobo, (Ben?) the Behemoth and the

The Next dungeon is the last, and also most deadly.  For the boss, you'll
want to be around level 55, so you've good some work to do.

After escaping the crumbling dungeon, Cid has found someone - the little Guz
that became Glass Goth.  But something magical happens.  It transfers its
spirit into the body of a doll.  This doll, Kuz, is a very uniquely powerful
creature in that it can zap a beam at a creature and become that creature.

Watch the ending of the game.  There's more to come - bonus dungeons.  After
the credits scroll by, Kuz will deliver a letter to the resting Chocobo and
Mog, then Chip will appear to address you, the player.  Then also give the
doll, Kuz his name. 

The Secret Dungeon is in Chubby Chocobo's Shop.  Or you can enter one of the
dungeons outside on the world map, by one of the other adventurer's lonesome.

If you choose to enter the Secret Dungeon, you have to choose a partner.

About the Other dungeons.  You enter them as another character, but you will lose
all your items.  Your Level will remain intact, although you start at level one in
the dungeon.  So be sure to deposit everything you have/want in the storage slots.
