Celestial Weapons

Note: You CANNOT obtain any of the weapons until you have the airship

Celestial Mirror

Celestial weapons are some of the best weapons.. AFTER some work. When first obtained, any of the Celestial Weapons is only equipped with the NO AP ability and is not customizable. They can be "POWERED UP" into absolute killing machines. The first step to getting the weapons is getting the Celestial Mirror.

The Celestial Mirror is easily obtained. First of all you must have the Airship, otherwise there's no real point to getting it yet. In the Calm Lands, find the Chocobo Trainer, and get a Chocobo. Ride the Chocobo to the entrance and head right to the end of the cliff. Examine the Chocobo Feather and your Chocobo will fly to a lower cliff. From here, disembark and head off to the Remiem Temple to the right.

As you get to the temple, head left and find a chocobo. Examine the sphere on the ground for the Chocobo Race instructions. Once heard, goto the right side of the temple and Saddle up on the Chocobo. If you beat the opposing Chocobo, you will get the Cloudy Mirror. A map of the race course can be located HERE. Half of this step is done. Go back to the Calm Lands, head down into the Macalania Forest, and at the four way intersection, head left. Go down to meet a mother and child. Talk to them and learn of the missing husband. Go back to the four way intersection and head upwards. Talk to the man and head back to where his wife was.

Once there, talk to each the husband and wife three times. Head up the new Crystal-like path and take a left at the fork. Talk to the boy there and the Cloudy Mirror will be upgraded to the Celestial Mirror. You are now ready to get the weapons. Once you have a weapon and a crest, return here to power it up, then again with the Sigil.

- Tidus' Caladbolg -

Tidus' Caladbolg is fairly simple. Complete the fourth course of the Chocobo Trainer in the Calm Lands. Data on the courses can be found HERE. Once you have beaten the Chocobo Trainer in a race, head to the top left of the Calm Lands, and search for a small path leading down into the 'scar'. Use the Celestial Mirror to open the wall mounting and obtain the Caladbolg. Incase you're wondering, this was the Ultima Weapon in the Japanese version of FFX, but was renamed for the English version.

Crest: Tidus' Crest is simple. It is located in the back of the room where you faced Yunalesca. If you are playing FFX-International, you MUST get this right after defeating Yunalesca, because Dark Bahamut will be waiting for you afterwards.

Sigil: Tidus' Sigil is a fairly tough challenge. It involves the Chocobo Race in the Calm Lands. You must hit enough balloons to lower your end time to LESS THAN 0:0.0. If you get exactly 0:0.0 you will not get the Sigil. You must have less than 0:0.0. This will take some time and patience. The one key item to remember is to never get hit by a bird to get a balloon. You may think they balance out, but birds also add nearly 2 seconds of recovery time. Also, at the start, only go for the second balloon. The trainer will be preocupied with the first balloon and have delayed herself. This will allow you to easily get every other balloon on the upper path without worrying about her. This will put her behind and give you a nice shot at all the balloons in the entire path. Extra tip: At first, ignore the balloons, your opponent will go after them at first, giving you a chance to break ahead

The Caladbolg contains the following abilities: Triple Overdrive, Break the Damage Barrier, Evade & Counter, Magic Counter. For more details on these abilities, please go to the Weapons section.

- Yuna's Nirvana -

Yuna's Nirvana may be the most simple Celestial Weapon to obtain. By capturing all the monsters in the Calm Lands, the arena owner will make a chest appear. Use the Celestial Mirror to open it and obtain the Nirvana.

Crest: Yuna's Crest is fairly easy. Return to Besaid and go to the beach. Swim out and turn to Tidus' left. Go on land again after the first stone wall. The Crest is in a chest right there. You can easily get this Crest in the first hour of the game.

Sigil: Yuna's Sigil is a long sidequest, but not extremely hard. First, you must obtain ALL the Aeons, including the three secret Aeons. For more information on obtaining the Secret Aeons, go HERE. Once you have all three secret Aeons, goto the Remiem Temple and challenge Belgimene. After defeating the Magus Sisters (you must do the secret Aeons in order) you have the option to send Belgiemme. Do so and the Sigil is yours.

The Nirvana contains the following abilities: Triple Overdrive, Break the Damage Barrier, Double AP, One MP Cost. For more details on these abilities, please go to the Weapons section.

- Auron's Masamune -

Auron's Masamune is, in my opinion, one of the more complicated Celestial Weapons. First, go to the Calm Lands, and in the area towards Mount Gagazet, head down the path towards the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. Do not go in the cavern, but continue on the path until you come to a statue. Examine it to take the Rusty Sword. Now go to the Mushroom Rock Road. From the starting point, take the SECOND left, and go up the lift. You won't remember this place since you were forced to take the first left earlier in the game. Put the Rusty Sword in front of the statue there. Open the new wall mounting to the left, and the Masamune is yours.

Crest: Auron's Crest is another simple one, but far out of the way. Go to Mi'Hen Highroad. Hire a chocobo and ride all the way to the end. Then exit the screen to the lower right and go to the end of the Old Road. The Crest is in a chest there.

Sigil: Auron's Sigil is one of the longest side quests in the game. You must capture enough monsters for 10 area and species creations total. My recommendation is to buy Capture Weapons for Auron Wakka and Tidus and go through the first 10 areas of the game (minus one for each creation you already have) and capture every enemy there. You will get Auron's Sigil as an award.

The Masamune contains the following abilities: Triple Overdrive, Break the Damage Barrier, First Strike, Counterattack. For more details on these abilities, please go to the Weapons section.

- Wakka's World Champion -

Wakka's World Champion is one of the more unfair weapons. As with everything else for Wakka, it is based on Blitzball. If you have at least 5 more wins than losses in Blitzball, go to the Cafe in Luca. Examine the orange sphere in front of the counter. If you have 5 more wins than losses, the Cafe owner will allow you to take the World Champion.

Crest: Wakka's Crest is simply located in a locker in the Auroch's changeroom at the Blitzball stadium in Luca.

Sigil: Wakka's Sigil is INCREDIBLY unfair. It is a prize in a LEAGUE match at the Blitzball stadium in Luca, AFTER getting all 3 of Wakka's additional Overdrives. If you need tips with Blitzball, go to the Blitzball section.

The World Champion contains the following abilities: Triple Overdrive, Break the Damage Barrier, Double AP, Evade & Counter. For more details on these abilities, please go to the Weapons section.

- Lulu's Onion Knight -

Lulu's Onion Knight is located at the Baaj Temple. This can be accessed by using the search command for the airship, and going to (13,60). Once there, dive into the water and swim opposite the temple entrance. The Onion Knight is hidden behind some of the broken pieces of the temple. Once you have it, return to the surface and press the Square button to return to the platform.

Crest: Lulu's Crest is located in a chest at the farplane. It is on the left hand side. It only appears after you have the airship.

Sigil: Lulu's Sigil is one of the longest side quests in the game. Go to the Thunder Plains, and have some sort of way of marking down numbers. Equip someone with No Encounters armor if available. Now run around and avoid 200 lightning bolts without getting hit. Returning to the agency counts as quitting, so you must keep count yourself. After evading 200 lightning bolts, head to the agency, and pick up all the items in the treasure chest outside. The Venus Sigil will be the last of them.

The Onion Knight contains the following abilities: Triple Overdrive, Break the Damage Barrier, One MP Cost, Magic Booster. For more details on these abilities, please go to the Weapons section.

- Kimahri's Spirit Lance -

Kimahri's Sprit Lance is in Thunder Plains - South. Find the three glowing Qactuar Stones. Press Square in front of them to pray at them. Once you have prayed at three, search the middle of the area for a floating Qactuar ghost. Follow it to a partly destroyed lightning pole. Pray at the pole by pressing Square, and a chest will appear, and the Spirit Lance not far away of it.

Crest: Kimahri's Crest is located on Mount Gagazet. Past the area where you fought Seymour, there are a bunch of pillars. Behind one of them is the Crest.

Sigil: Kimahri's Sigil is in Macalania Forest. To get it, you must win BOTH butterfly games in the forest, AFTER getting the airships. Maps of the butterflies and suggested paths can be found HERE and HERE. More on the butterfly minigame HERE.

The Spirite Lance contains the following abilities: Triple Overdrive, Break the Damage Barrier, Double AP, Evade & Counter. For more details on these abilities, please go to the Weapons section.

- Rikku's Godhand -

Rikku's Godhand is located in Mushroom Rock Road. Sounds simple. Here's the catch. You have to enter, in the airship password area, GODHAND all in CAPS. Head to the farleft of the new area, and use the Celestial Mirror to take the Godhand from the wall.

Crest: Rikku's Crest is in the fourth area of the Sanubia Desert. You will notice on the minimap a small area near the midleft, accessable by only one small path. In there is a chest and a sandpool. The chest contains the Crest.

Sigil: The Sigil is a sidequest on it's own. It is a prize for COMPLETING, not winning, the Cactuar Minigame in the Sanubia Desert. For more information, go to the Secrets section.

As said above, once obtaining these weapons, return to where you powered up the Celestial Mirror to power them up as well, otherwise they only have NO AP. You must use the Crest first. This will add Double Overdrive to the weapons. After using the Crest, you can use the Sigil to bring the abilities mentionned for each weapon. Also, powering up certain weapons will allow you to exceed 9999 damage with different Aeons. Which weapon for which Aeon is listed on the Aeon's Page.
