Clock Timing
The biggest difference between BS Zelda and Legend of Zelda (aside from the rearranged world/Dungeons) is the introduction of the clock. When played via the Bantai Satellaview, players could only play for about an hour or so per pair of Triforce pieces, hence the clock. Most patches have alleviated this "problem" however.
In addition, at certain points in the clock, special things happen, hence this section. The effects that occur are totally different depending on how many Triforce Pieces you have. When you collect each pair of Triforce Pieces, the clock automatically moves onto the next hour. Also, if you're playing on a patch that won't freeze after an hour, the clock will go onto the next hour on its own. The hour of the clock doesn't matter, only the minutes.
When it says that it's raining in Hyrule, that means the overworld is experiencing a thunderstorm. During this time, all Octoroks are replaced by Red Darknuts, and enemies in dungeons are halved.
You can even exploit this system to your advantage. For instance, if you collect your second Triforce Piece in a pair while you still have a special effect (like infinite Bombs), that effect will carry over, allowing you to keep it for much longer than you should.
